The up and downs of being an Artist is something that still, even after years of being one, somehow manages to creep up and surprise me. I've heard it said that struggle breeds creativity, and once again I have realised this is true. Some of my best works have come out of the deep dark times rather than the bright ones. But one thing I have learnt over the years is that the unique makeup of what is me and what drives me as an artist is the desire to create something lasting, something bigger than myself. And it is in the endeavour to do so that I inevitably also reach my highs. The highs that last and sustain me through future lows. Just a thought.
